New Delhi: The country's capital Delhi has now become a chamber of poisonous gas. The issue of pollution in the capital was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. The court asked tough questions to the Delhi government, and upon receiving answers, the court said that it was not satisfied with the answers of the Delhi government.
Not satisfied with the reply of Delhi Government- Court
The Supreme Court said, we are not satisfied with the Delhi government's reply. It has not been able to tell how many entry points there are in Delhi and where its officers are present. Amicus Curiae told us that there are a total of 113 entry points. CCTV cameras are installed only at 13. It seems that trucks are entering from the rest of the points. We are ordering the Delhi government and Delhi Police to immediately set up check posts at all 113 places. The court said that it would ask the central government to appoint police officers at all 113 entry points. It will ask the Delhi Legal Service Authority to also appoint para-legal volunteers for monitoring.
The Supreme Court said, that to give the amicus curiae the footage of those 13 entry points where CCTV cameras are installed, it seems that no investigation is being done on the remaining 100. We are happy that 13 lawyers have agreed to work as court commissioners. These court commissioners should be given facilities and necessary security to visit the entry points of Delhi. The hearing will be held on Monday.
