New Delhi: The new governor of RBI will be Sanjay Malhotra. His tenure will be for the next 3 years. He will replace the current RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. The term of the current RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das is also ending on December 10. Malhotra will take over as Governor from Wednesday. Let us tell you that in the year 2022, Sanjay Malhotra, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), was nominated by the Center as the Director of the Reserve Bank (RBI).

 Who is Sanjay Malhotra?

Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. He became the Chairman and MD of REC (Rural Electrification Corporation) in November 2020. Prior to this, he has also served as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Energy. Sanjay Malhotra has an engineering degree from IIT Kanpur. He has a master's degree from Princeton University. For the last 30 years, Malhotra has served in departments like Power, Finance, Taxation, IT, and Mines.

Worked towards controlling inflation

Shaktikanta Das took over the responsibility of RBI Governor 6 years ago after the sudden resignation of Urjit Patel. During his tenure, he has done remarkable work toward controlling the problem of inflation that arose in the country after COVID-19.
