New Delhi. The One Nation-One Election Bill can be introduced in the current session of Parliament. According to the information, the government wants to get the consent of all the parties on this bill, due to which it will send the bill to JPC i.e. Joint Parliamentary Committee for discussion.

Representatives of all parties will discuss

JPC will hold in-depth discussions on this bill with representatives of all political parties. It is being said that speakers of all state assemblies and intellectuals from across the country will be invited for the discussion on the One Nation-One Election Bill. Along with this, the opinion of the common people will also be taken on this bill.

The Union Cabinet has approved.

Let us tell you that the Narendra Modi cabinet had approved the One Nation One Election proposal in the month of September itself. It is known that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised a One Nation One Election in its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. In his speech from the Red Fort on the occasion of 15 August-Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated a One Nation-One Election. Along with this, he had said that frequent elections are hindering the progress of the country.

The committee submitted its report to the President.

Earlier, the committee formed to consider the One Nation One Election had submitted its report to President Draupadi Murmu on March 14. The report of this committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind is of 18,626 pages. It is worth noting that this committee was formed on 2 September 2023. This committee has suggested extending the term of all the assemblies till 2029. After which elections of all the assemblies can be held along with the Lok Sabha.

The opposition is protesting vigorously.

It is noteworthy that the opposition parties are strongly opposing the One Nation One Election. Opposition leaders say that BJP wants to establish one-party rule in the country through a One Nation One Election. Many big opposition parties including Congress, and Samajwadi Party are against the One Nation One Election.
