MLAs of the parties in the ruling 'India' alliance in Jharkhand held an important meeting on Sunday, in which strategies were discussed for the first session of the newly formed assembly. This session will begin on Monday and will continue till December 12. In this meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, all the MLAs were asked to be ready to give logical answers to the questions of the opposition.
The meeting chalked out plans for the four-day session that will begin with the swearing-in ceremony of MLAs of the 81-member Assembly. Several important functions will be held during the session, including the election of the Speaker, the Governor's address, the presentation of the second supplementary budget, and debate on the Governor's address, an Assembly official said. "Members have been asked to be ready for the Governor's address and debate on the supplementary budget," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radha Krishna Kishore said after the meeting.
Speaker of Jharkhand Assembly?
State Education Minister Ramdas Soren said that the ruling coalition has given its consent to the name of former Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato as the Speaker of the Assembly. Congress MLA Kumar Jai Mangal supported Mahato considering his seniority and experience in conducting the proceedings of the Assembly. On Thursday, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Stephen Marandi was sworn in as the Protem Speaker. On November 28, Hemant Soren was sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
The governor's address will be on the 11th
After the meeting, RJD leader Suresh Paswan said, "It was decided in the meeting that everyone will take oath tomorrow. All work will be done according to the rules of the assembly and the Governor's address will be on the 11th." Congress leader Shweta Singh said, "It was discussed in the meeting that how we can work for the development of our respective assemblies in the next five years. After the oath-taking, the Governor's address will be held and the Speaker will also be selected."
