Today i.e. Monday is the third and last day of the special session of the Maharashtra Legislature. The Assembly Speaker will be elected today. BJP's Rahul Narvekar is considered certain to become the Assembly Speaker for the second time. The opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has not fielded any candidate for the post of Speaker. In such a situation, Narvekar's second term is certain.

Rahul Narvekar, who was the Speaker of the 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for two and a half years, has been re-elected from the Colaba Assembly seat in Mumbai. As Speaker, he has taken many important decisions in favor of Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which shows his impartiality and leadership ability.

Demand for the post of Leader of Opposition

Narvekar filed his nomination papers on Sunday before Assembly Secretary Jitendra Bhole along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Meanwhile, MVA leaders met Fadnavis and urged him to follow the protocol of giving the Deputy Speaker's post to the Opposition. The opposition alliance has also demanded the post of Leader of Opposition.

The test will be conducted by voice vote.

The formal announcement of the election of the Speaker will be made in the Assembly on Monday. After this, there will be a majority test for the new government. This test will be done through a voice vote, in which the government will have to prove its majority. If the majority is obtained by voice vote, then the government will be able to strengthen its position. After this process, Governor CP Radhakrishnan will address the joint session of both the houses of the state legislature, which will give further impetus to political activities in the state.
