Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) President JP Nadda on Saturday alleged that the Congress is a "parasitic party" and depends on regional parties to win elections.
Addressing a public meeting organized by the BJP's Telangana unit to highlight the alleged failures of the Congress government in Telangana in the last one year, Nadda said the Congress makes big promises to win elections in states but betrays the people after coming to power.
Congress party is a party standing on crutches- Nadda
Nadda said that Congress is a parasitic party. A parasitic party sticks to a tree like a creeper and tries to stand up by taking strength from the tree. It dries up that tree. He said that Congress also drowns the party on whose support it stands. Giving the example of Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, Nadda said that Congress wins only where a regional party helps it win the election. He said that 'Congress party is a party standing on crutches.'
Citing examples of Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, he said that Congress wins there with the help of regional parties. He said that this party runs with the support of regional parties. He said that it has been a long time since Congress lost power in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, but it could never regain its strength in those states. He said that the party is going to have the same fate in Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh, where it is in power. Accusing the Congress of coming to power by making false promises to the people in all the three states, Nadda said that the governments there have not fulfilled their promises.
