Paris: The 33rd Summer Olympic Games held in the French capital concluded on Sunday with a colorful ceremony. In the 16-day long mega sports event, 206 countries competed for 329 gold medals in 32 sports. In the end, America remained in the first position with 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze medals. America maintained its supremacy in the Paris Olympics with 126 medals. China had to be satisfied with the second position despite winning 40 gold medals. China won a total of 91 medals including 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals. Japan remained in the third position in the medal tally with 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
Manu Bhaker and Sreejesh held the tricolor
10,500 athletes from all over the world came out to challenge in the Paris Olympics in which 117 players from India participated and won 1 silver and 5 bronze medals and finished 71st in the medal tally. Manu Bhaker and hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh held the Indian tricolor in the closing ceremony. Manu Bhaker won two bronze medals in Paris Olympics and became the first Indian to win two medals in one Olympics. Sreejesh bid farewell to the sport after winning a bronze medal in the Olympics for the second consecutive time. Neeraj Chopra was selected as the flag bearer in the closing ceremony but he put Sreejesh's name forward.
