KALYAN: The police swung into action after a video showed a youngster performing stunts, lying on the bonnet of a moving BMW driven around Kalyan by 17-year-old has gone viral.
The 21-year-old on the bonnet, Subham Mitalia, has been arrested while the teenager and his father, a retired govt official, have been booked.
The video shows the young man on the bonnet as the teen, who has no driving licence, steers the BMW around the busy Shivaji Chowk locality in Kalyan (west) as passers-by watch, some recording the daylight daredevilry on their phones.
The father has been booked for letting his underage son drive. The police have served a notice to the father. The police said that the teenager, inspired by reels on social media, recently coaxed his father to buy the second- hand BMW costing around Rs 5 lakh.
The car is registered in the father's name. Senior inspector of Bazarpeth police station, Suresh Gaud, said that no sooner did the video go viral than they tracked down the car, the youth on the boonet and the minor.
