Bengaluru: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has lashed out at Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for saying that he will 'review' the Shakti scheme. In a press conference, Kharge, who looked angry, demanded an answer from DK Shivakumar for his statement. Although Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tried to save Shivakumar after seeing him in trouble, Kharge's anger did not subside. Later, while talking to journalists, DK's tone changed and he said that Karnataka's guarantee model is an example for the whole country and we are happy that we have been able to implement it.
This conversation took place between Kharge and DK
Kharge: How many guarantees have you given here (in Karnataka)?
DK: Five.
Kharge: Looking at your 5 guarantees, I have announced 5 guarantees in Maharashtra too. But you have said that one guarantee will be removed.
DK: No, that’s not what I meant.
Kharge: It seems you don't read newspapers, this has come in the newspapers.
Siddaramaiah: He said we will review.
Kharge: When you say review, it opens up an opportunity for criticism. In Maharashtra, I have said that they should not announce 5, 6, 10, or 20 guarantees. They should announce guarantees based on the budget. Otherwise, there will be bankruptcy. If there is no money for roads, everyone will turn against you. If this government fails, the coming generation will be left with nothing but infamy. They will have to live in exile for 10 years.
These 5 free guarantee schemes are running in Karnataka
Congress is running 5 free guarantee schemes in Karnataka:
1. Anna Bhagya: 10 kg rice per month for every BPL family.
2- Griha Lakshmi: Rs 2000 per month to a female head of the family through DBT. This scheme is not being regularized, there is a backlog in between but the government is running it by depositing money along with arrears in the accounts of all women.
3- Griha Jyoti: Under this scheme, every household is guaranteed 200 units of free electricity. This scheme is running effectively.
4- Shakti Free Bus Guarantee: Under this scheme, women are being provided free bus service in government buses. This scheme is also running effectively.
5- Yuva Nidhi Yojana: Under this scheme, there is a plan to give an unemployment allowance of Rs 1500 per month to unemployed diploma holders and Rs 3000 per month to unemployed graduate degree holders. This has not been fully implemented yet. Some are getting its benefits and some youth are complaining that even after registration they are not getting the full benefit of this scheme.
After getting rebuked by Kharge, the tune changed.
After being reprimanded by Congress President Kharge, Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President DK Shivkumar changed his tune. DK Shivkumar, who faced the wrath of Kharge by saying that the Shakti Guarantee Scheme will be reviewed, said today that Karnataka's guarantee model is an example for the whole country. He said that BJP governments are also implementing it, and we are happy that we have been able to implement it.
