Lawrence Bishnoi Crime Profile: After the murder of actor Salman Khan's close politician Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai on Saturday night, once again the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is echoing in the air. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail. But the police suspect that Baba Siddiqui was killed in a planned manner to teach Salman a lesson. More than two dozen criminal cases including murder and extortion are registered against him. However, he has denied these allegations. His gang is said to have more than 700 shooters in the country and abroad. Lawrence Bishnoi was once an ordinary student studying in college. Then what happened to him was that he became the king of the crime world in no time.
Where was Lawrence Bishnoi born?
Lawrence Bishnoi was born on 12 February 1993 in a village in Ferozepur, Punjab. His father was a constable in the Haryana Police. However, 4 years after the birth of his son, i.e. in 1997, he left the police job and started farming. Lawrence studied till 12th in Abohar district. After this, in the year 2011, his father got him admitted to DAV College, Chandigarh. There he developed an interest in politics and joined the Punjab University Campus Students Council.
Bishnoi's friendship with Goldie Brar
During this time, he met a gangster named Goldie Brar, who was studying at Punjab University. Both of them first got involved in the student politics of the university together and then entered the world of crime due to a conflict with another group. However, before entering crime, Lawrence Bishnoi had completed LLB. During this time, cases were registered against him in many cases including assault, attempt to murder, and robbery. He has been acquitted in 4 out of 7 cases registered against him, while 3 are still going on.
Expanded the gang while staying in jail
Due to these crimes, the police arrested Lawrence Bishnoi and sent him to jail, but there he expanded his gang by joining hands with other criminal gangs. Along with this, he also came in contact with arms dealers. After coming out of jail, he allegedly shot dead the winner of the Students Union election in Muktsar Government College and a rival candidate in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections. Finally, he was arrested again in 2014 in an encounter with the Rajasthan Police.
Shifted to Tihar in the year 2021
He befriended gangster-turned-politician Jaswinder Singh alias Rocky while in jail. Rocky was murdered by Jaipal Bhullar in 2016. Lawrence Bishnoi took revenge and got Jaipal Bhullar killed in 2020. In 2021, Lawrence Bishnoi was shifted from Bharatpur to Delhi's Tihar Jail for the hearing of a case registered under MCOCA.
Why is Lawrence Bishnoi angry with Salman Khan?
If we talk about Lawrence Bishnoi's famous crimes, then it becomes a long list. It is alleged that Bishnoi, angry at the killing of a Chinkara deer, wants to kill actor Salman Khan. For this, in 2018, he gave a contract of murder to one of his close associates, Sampat Nehra. For this, he went to Mumbai and did a recce of Salman Khan's house.
Moosewala was killed, and the firing took place at Gippy's house.
After this, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on 29 May 2022. Goldie Brar along with Bishnoi, who was hiding in Canada, took responsibility for this murder. He claimed that the Bishnoi gang had killed Moosewala. Then in November 2023, the Lawrence gang fired at the house of another Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal. This firing was done due to Grewal's alleged relationship with Salman Khan. However, Gippy denied any relationship with Salman Khan.
The president of the Karni Sena was murdered in Jaipur.
The crime journey of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang did not stop there. Last year on 5 December 2023, Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead at his home in Jaipur. Lawrence's gang took responsibility for this murder by posting on social media through Rohit Godara. 10 months after this incident, now-actor Salman Khan's close aide and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui was murdered outside his son's office in Mumbai.
