Delhi CM Atishi has written a letter to the Chief Secretary regarding the Chhath Puja holidays. She wrote- "Chhath Puja is an important festival for the people of Delhi NCT. Therefore, the Delhi government has decided to declare a public holiday on 7 November 2024 on the occasion of 'Chhath Puja'.''
LG had appealed
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had written a letter to CM Atishi requesting to declare November 7, the third day of the Chhath festival, as a full-time holiday. Let us tell you that the Delhi government has currently declared November 7 as a restricted holiday.
What did the Lieutenant Governor say?
In his letter to the Delhi CM, LG VK Saxena wrote- "Dear Atishi ji, in a few days we will be celebrating Chhath. This great festival of faith is celebrated for 04 days, in which the third day when Arghya is offered to the setting Sun God is the most important. This day falling on 07 November this year has already been declared as a restricted holiday. I request the government to declare 07 November, 2024 (Thursday) as a full-time holiday and the file related to this should be sent as soon as possible."
