Shinde should remain CM: Kesarkar.
On the other hand, Maharashtra government's Minister of State and Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar said that the party MLAs believe that Eknath Shinde should continue to serve as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. A day after the Mahayuti alliance won a thumping majority in the recently concluded assembly elections in Maharashtra, Kesarkar met Shinde at his residence in Mumbai. The Mahayuti alliance includes the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the BJP, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
"The Shiv Sena MLAs believe that Shinde should continue as the Mahayuti under his leadership did a great job and performed well in the elections," Kesarkar told reporters. However, he said Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis (BJP) and Ajit Pawar (NCP) will take a unanimous decision on the issue of chief minister. "Whatever decision will be taken, it will be in the interest of Maharashtra," Kesarkar, who won another term from Sawantwadi constituency, said.
After the Fadnavis-led BJP won the maximum 132 seats out of 288 in the state assembly elections, speculations were being made about the post of Chief Minister. Shinde-led Shiv Sena got 57 seats. Fadnavis on Saturday denied any dispute over the post of Chief Minister and said that the leaders of the Mahayuti will decide on this issue together.
