New Delhi: If you have not yet updated your Aadhaar card for free, then you have more time now. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates. UIDAI has informed on the social media platform 'X' that now this facility has been extended for another 3 months.
You can update for free till December 14, 2024
UIDAI said that earlier this deadline was till September 14, 2024, which has now been extended to December 14, 2024. That is, now you can avail this facility till December. UIDAI has asked all Aadhaar card holders whose Aadhaar cards are 10 years or older to update their information. This free service has been extended several times before, and now it has been extended again for 3 months.
Benefits will be available only through online medium
Keep in mind that this facility of free Aadhaar updates is available only online. You can avail of this service through UIDAI's official website or My Aadhaar portal. If you go to the Aadhaar center and update Aadhaar, it will not be free. However, you will have to go to the Aadhaar center to update your biometric and iris details.
How to update Aadhaar for free?
1. Visit UIDAI website https://uidai.gov.in.
2. Go to My Aadhaar portal, enter your registered mobile number, and log in with OTP.
3. Check all your details. If everything is correct then proceed further.
4. If any information is incorrect, select the correct document from the drop-down menu.
5. Upload the required documents.
6. After uploading the documents the process will be completed.
7. You will get a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN), through which you can track the status of your Aadhaar update.
