Census postponed due to Covid.
Let us tell you that since 1891, a census has been conducted in the country every 10 years. The first census in independent India was conducted in 1991. After this, the census was conducted in 2001 and 2011. After 2011, the census was to be held in 2021 but it had to be postponed due to the Covid pandemic. In such a situation, if the census is held next year, then its cycle will also change. Then the next census in the country will be held in 2035 and 2045 and 2055.
Delimitation will happen after the census
After the census, delimitation of Lok Sabha seats is also to be done in the country. The delimitation process is to be completed by 2028. During the census, questions can also be asked about the sect to which sect they follow. Many communities in the country consider themselves to be of a different sect. For example, there are sects like Lingayat in Karnataka and Ravidasi, and Valmiki in different states. In such a situation, this time the government can conduct a census based on sect apart from religion and class.
