Patna: A major accident took place in Jehanabad, Bihar on the fourth Monday of Sawan. 7 people lost their lives due to a stampede during the Jalabhishek of Mahadev. 9 devotees have been injured. The condition of many of them is said to be critical. The incident took place in the temple of Vanavar Baba Siddheshwarnath in Jehanabad. As soon as the information of the accident was received, the police and disaster relief team reached the spot and sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

SP-DM present on the spot

Police say that all the devotees had gathered in the temple for Jalabhishek on the fourth Monday of Sawan. The reason for the stampede has not been revealed yet. According to Jehanabad SHO Diwakar Vishwakarma, the SP and DM themselves reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. The reasons for the accident are being investigated.

There was a scuffle to offer water first

A person injured in the accident informed that the incident happened at 1 o'clock in the night. At that time there was a huge crowd of people offering water in the temple. Everyone started pushing each other to offer water first. This led to a stampede. Some people came out of it but many people climbed over those who remained inside. People died in this.
