New Delhi: Former chief of Pakistan's top spy agency ISI, Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been arrested by the country's army. The army has also started court martial proceedings against him. The army said in a statement that the Supreme Court had ordered his arrest in connection with the land development case and several violations of the Pakistan Army Act after his retirement.
Let us tell you that a detailed investigation was initiated by the Pakistan Army to ascertain the veracity of the complaints in the Top City case against Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed (retired). At the same time, the army said in its statement that appropriate disciplinary action had been initiated against Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed (retired) under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.
The army had reportedly set up an inquiry committee in April to probe allegations of power abuse against former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, who was considered extremely powerful when he headed the spy agency from 2019 to 2021.
