BMW India CEO Vikram Pawah said the luxury carmaker doesn't plan to build its battery-driven cars locally in the near term.
"Whenever we reach a threshold of certain volumes, we will start producing them locally," he said. "EV sales, though encouraging, are very low for us. As they grow, we will take a call on their production," he added.

At present, BMW Group India now offers six EVs in India - BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW i4, BMW iX1 and MINI SE. The range got expanded further with the launch of MINI Countryman E electric SUV and BMW CE 04, the first electric two-wheeler by BMW Motored India.
