For the last 4 years, foreign investors have been keeping a very keen eye on the Indian stock market. September 2024 is not yet over and foreign investors have set a record by investing more than Rs 57 thousand crore. The investment made by foreign investors in the stock market in September is the fourth largest investment in the history of India.

9 months ago i.e. in December 2023, foreign investors had made the highest investment in a single month. Whose figure had also crossed Rs 66 crore. Well, after the record investment of September, more than one lakh crore rupees have been invested in the stock market of India so far.

The special thing is that this trend has not stopped yet. There are clear indications from the Fed that interest rates will be cut in the current year. Due to this, the investment of foreign investors can be seen increasing further in the Indian stock market. Let us also tell you when foreign investors have invested more than 50 thousand rupees in the last 4 years.

This figure was crossed for the 5th time.

According to the data of NSDL, from the year 2002 to September 2024, it has been seen only 5 times in the country, when foreign investors invested 50 thousand or more in the stock market. The special thing is that this process started in the last months of the year 2020. While the first wave of COVID had ended and there was no sign of the second wave. In such a situation, foreign investors had invested Rs 60,358 crore in November 2020 and in December 2020, they created a stir in the whole world by investing even more than that, Rs 62,016 crore.

The year 2022 was dry.

After the year 2020, the month of August in 2021 was very important. In this month, foreign investors invested Rs 51,204 crore. No such month was seen in the year 2022. In which foreign investors have invested more than Rs 50 thousand crore. After that, after waiting for more than two years, the Indian stock market got record love from foreign investors in December 2023. In this month, foreign investors have invested Rs 66,135 crore in the stock market. Till now such a big investment has not been made in the stock market.

It can touch the figure of 60 thousand crores.

On the other hand, in the month of September 2024, foreign investors have invested Rs 57,359 crore. However, one business day of September 2024 i.e. 30 September is left. The monthly figure may cross the figure of Rs 60 thousand crore. According to experts, foreign investors are continuously investing in the stock market. If foreign investors invest Rs 7 to 8 thousand crore on Monday, then it is possible that the record of December 2023 may also be broken.

You can get such an opportunity after three years.

If we look at it on an annual basis, there have been only three such occasions before the year 2024 when foreign investors have invested more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the stock market in a calendar year. The years 2019 and 2020 were two consecutive years when foreign investors invested more than Rs 1 lakh crore. In the year 2019, an investment of Rs 1,01,122 crore was made. In the year 2020, an investment of Rs 1,70,262 crore was made. After that, this figure was seen to be very low in the years 2021 and 2022. Then in the year 2023, all the records were broken and in a year, foreign investors have invested Rs 1,71,107 crore. In the current year, in the month of September, this figure has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. So far investors have invested Rs 1,00,245 crore.

Will the figure touch 2 lakh crore rupees

Now the biggest question is whether the investment figure of foreign investors can reach 2 lakh crore rupees in the stock market. If we look at the data of NSDL, we can assume that this figure can reach 2 lakh crore rupees. For the last 4 months, the inflow of foreign investors has been seen in the stock market. During this period, foreign investors have invested an average of 31 thousand crore rupees. In the month of August, foreigners had invested only 7300 crore rupees. If this investment had been more, then the average could have gone above 35 thousand crore rupees. If the average investment of 33 to 35 thousand crore rupees is seen in the next three months, then the investment figure of foreign investors can cross 2 lakh crore rupees. Which will be history.
