An idea can sound small but can create a bigger impact.
Sandeep Pandey's journey is all about that. His dream of opening a restaurant in Uttarakhand was dashed by the devastating 2013 floods, leaving him in disarray.
Undeterred, he went to commercialise the region's traditional 'pahadi' salt, paving the way for HimFla.
Inspired by local women enjoying roti with 'pisyun loon' (hand-ground pahadi salt), Sandeep saw an opportunity. He launched HimFla with just Rs 160, promoting natural flavours preserved through traditional silbatta grinding.
Building a Flourishing Business
Starting from local fairs to global markets, HimFla now offers 52 flavours, sourced from 1,000 farmers across Uttarakhand. This initiative not only preserves culinary heritage but also empowers 80 rural women with stable incomes, transforming their lives.
Impact Beyond Profit
Despite initial skepticism, Sandeep's venture now boasts an annual revenue of Rs 1.5 crore. His journey from rejection to recognition underscores the power of persistence and purpose in creating meaningful change.
