India's second-largest IT company, Infosys, reported a 76% decrease in hiring college graduates in FY24.
The annual financial report reveals that while Infosys hired 50,000 freshers in FY23, this number dramatically dropped to 11,900 in FY24.
Notably, Infosys' headcount decreased by 25,994, marking the first reduction in at least 23 years, since 2001. The total headcount stood at 317,000 employees for the entire year.
Recently, it was reported that the company has delayed the onboarding of over 2,000 campus recruits, causing considerable financial and emotional hardship.
This substantial decline coincides with companies beginning to integrate Al into their operations.
Infosys CEO Salil Parekh noted that the company has trained over 250,000 employees in Al skills, preparing them for the future.
