A study report has been released by the Confederation of All India Traders on Monday. According to this study report, traders across the country expect a business of Rs 4.25 lakh crore during this year's festive season. The study report states that the excitement of the festive season has started with Rakshabandhan and will continue till Diwali.

The survey, which covered 70 major business centers across various states, found that traders across the country have made extensive preparations to meet consumer demand and preferences. Based on the strong sales witnessed during festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Puja, Navratri, Durga Puja, and Dussehra, traders are optimistic about significant business growth during Diwali. 

According to CAIT, last year the festive business was around Rs 3.5 lakh crore. This year the festive business in Delhi alone is expected to be more than Rs 75,000 crore. The wedding season will begin after Diwali and traders are also expecting an increase in sales during this period.

CAT National President B.C. Bhartia said that during the festive season, sales will increase in all sectors, but especially gift items, sweets, dry fruits, electronics, automobiles, clothes, jewelry, utensils, crockery, mobile phones, furniture, home decor, kitchen appliances, shoes, cosmetics, IT equipment, stationery, electrical goods, fruits, flowers, puja items, earthen lamps and idols of gods and goddesses will be in high demand.

The services sector, including hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, catering, event management, cab services, delivery sector, and artists, is also expected to do significant business due to the numerous events taking place across the country. The Diwali season, which includes festivals like Ahoi Ashtami on October 24, Dhanteras on October 29, Diwali on November 1, Govardhan Puja on November 2, Bhai Dooj on November 3, Chhath Puja from November 5 to 8 and Tulsi Vivah on November 13, will bring an end to the festive period.

Bhartia also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to buy locally-made products during festivals has had a great impact. In response, CAIT has urged trade organizations across the country to support local manufacturers, artisans, and craftsmen by promoting their products, thereby showcasing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the Diwali festival. According to CAIT, traders have not imported any Chinese products for the festive season, and consumers are also not inclined to buy them despite the lower cost. "China's actions against India's interests have turned consumers away from Chinese goods," CAIT said.
