New Delhi: American aircraft manufacturing company Boeing is going to lay off 2500 of its employees. The company is going to do this layoff in the American states of Washington, Oregon, South Carolina, and Missouri. Boeing is burdened with heavy debts and that is why the company has taken this decision. The company will lay off about 10 percent of its global workforce i.e. 17000 people. The company has given this important information that another round of layoffs can be done in the month of December.

The company is burdened with huge debt.

According to a report, 2200 employees in Washington have been issued notices regarding layoffs. 220 employees in South Carolina have been served notices. These are the two states where Boeing manufactures commercial aircraft. However, Boeing has flatly refused to say anything about these layoffs.

Boeing Airlines handed over the termination letter 60 days in advance.

Aerospace giant Boeing on Wednesday informed US employees affected by layoffs that they will remain on Boeing's payroll until January 17, as per regulatory rules that require employees to be informed at least 60 days before employment ends. It was already expected that Boeing would send out Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARN) in mid-November. Another round of layoffs is expected in December. Boeing is also considering reductions in headcount, selective hiring, and sale of subsidiaries to reduce the workforce.
