New Delhi: The central government gave a gift to the central employees on Wednesday. The dearness allowance (DA) of central employees was increased by 3 percent. This decision was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in a press conference.
With this increase in DA, it has increased to 53 percent. This increase will be effective from July 1, 2024. In such a situation, the employees will also be given arrears from July till now. This will benefit more than one crore central government employees and pensioners.
DA increased to 53%
Central employees get DA and pensioners get DR. Till now DA was 50 percent of the basic salary. After today's increase, it has become 53 percent. There was no increase in DA for a long time. In such a situation, it was believed that the government could increase it before the festivals. It was last increased in March 2024. It was increased by 4 percent. This increase was implemented in January 2024.
How much salary will I get now?
Due to the increase in DA, the salary of central government employees also increased. If the monthly salary of an employee is Rs 50,000, then he will get Rs 1500 extra after a 3% increase in DA.
There is an increase twice a year.
The announcement of the DA hike is decided based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), which measures changes in retail prices across different sectors. Usually, the central government revises DA twice a year, in January and July. Its official announcement is usually made later. DA applies to existing employees. At the same time, pensioners get DR. With the increase in DA, government employees will get increased salaries.
