In 2013, Uttarakhand faced a devastating natural disaster, leaving Sandeep Pandey's dreams shattered as his planned restaurant succumbed to the floodwaters. But amidst the wreckage, a spark of inspiration ignited! Joined by childhood friends Sourabh Pant and Yogendra Singh, Sandeep started on a journey to turn adversity into opportunity.

Sandeep stumbled upon a group of women hand-grinding spices and herbs on a traditional silbatta, creating the delectable 'pahadi' salt. Their rustic culinary artistry sparked an idea - to commercialize this Himalayan treasure and provide employment to rural women.

With just Rs 160 and a grinding stone, they laid the foundation of HimFla - Himalayan Flavours. Their journey began humbly, setting up stalls at local fairs, where their flavoured salts quickly became the talk of the town. Despite initial skepticism, their passion and perseverance paid off, leading to rapid growth and recognition.

Today, HimFla stands tall, with an annual revenue of Rs 1.5 crore, spreading the taste of Uttarakhand's heritage across India and beyond. But their success isn't just measured in monetary terms. Through their venture, they've empowered 80 rural women, providing them with a steady source of income and dignity.

From garlic green chilli to timur and hemp, each flavourful grain of salt tells a story of resilience, determination, and the indomitable spirit of the Himalayas.
