MADURAI: A 13-year-old boy was detained Saturday for stabbing his nine-year-old schoolmate to death at an Urdu school near Melur in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district and dumping the body in a septic tank on Friday night.

Both minors are natives of Bihar. The victim had allegedly spoken ill of the accused's parents, leading to an argument that ended in murder, deputy SP BK Arvind said.

Police said the boys were staying at the residential school run by a private trust, where several students from Bihar have been enrolled.

On finding the nine-year-old boy missing on Friday night, the school management alerted Melur Police. Cops reached the spot, inquired with other students and subsequently searched the premises to find the body dumped in a septic tank early Saturday.

Further investigation led to the 13-year-old boy confessing to having stabbed the nine-year-old in the neck with a kitchen knife following an argument. After he died, the accused pushed the body into the septic tank and closed it shut.
