Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: With the assembly elections approaching, the issue of reservation has started simmering again in Maharashtra. Nationalist Congress Party (SP) President Sharad Pawar on Monday demanded the Maharashtra and Central Government to resolve the issue of the Maratha reservation. He said that he would support any initiative of the Central Government in this regard, including increasing the reservation limit of 50%. Meanwhile, Manoj Jarange Patil, who has been raising the voice for the Maratha reservation in the state for a long time, has termed these exercises as a gimmick.

Sharad Pawar demanded to call an all-party meeting

Sharad Pawar appealed to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to call an all-party meeting to resolve the Maratha reservation dispute. He said that the central government should work to abolish the 50 percent limit on reservations. Pawar said that the judiciary has banned reservation above 50 percent in the country. Still, if there is a problem then all political parties should come together and urge the central government to remove it. We will support this effort.
