Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aditya Thackeray on Sunday alleged that Maharashtra is being insulted as the name of the Chief Minister has not been decided and the government has not been formed even after more than a week after the declaration of the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Thackeray also raised questions on the social media platform 'X' and asked why the President's rule has not been imposed in the state yet.
Aditya Thackeray said, "The fact that the name of the Chief Minister has not been decided even after more than a week of the election results in Maharashtra is not only an insult to Maharashtra (for taking our state so lightly) but also an insult to the help provided by their beloved Election Commission. It seems that the rules apply only to opposition parties and not to certain people. Unilaterally announcing the swearing-in date without staking claim to form the government in the state and without showing numbers is complete anarchy."
Regarding Shinde, he said- he is on a mini-vacation
He further wrote, “In this whole case, the caretaker CM is on a mini vacation, as seen earlier, as per the movement of the moon. Meanwhile, Maharashtra is not getting any priority from those who can form the government. They are enjoying a trip to Delhi. President's rule? Shouldn't it have been imposed by now? Wouldn't it have happened if the opposition had the numbers and the decision was pending? Well, whoever is finally sworn in, our congratulations to him, thanks to the mandate of the Election Commission.”
Eknath Shinde made his stand clear.
Shiv Sena chief and caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the decision on the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be taken in the BJP Legislature Party meeting. He said, "This government is the people's government. I have made my stand clear. The honorable Prime Minister and the honorable Home Minister will make the final decision on the Chief Minister. Those BJP MLAs are meeting tomorrow. It will be decided. Don't worry."
Eknath Shinde left for his native village in Satara district on Friday amid speculations that he was unhappy with the way the new government was being formed. He said, "I always come to my village. When I have already made my stand clear last week, why should there be any confusion? I have already said that the decision taken by the BJP leadership on the chief minister's post will be acceptable to me and Shiv Sena and it will have my full support."
The new Mahayuti government will be sworn in on December 5.
Meanwhile, BJP state unit president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Saturday that the swearing-in ceremony of the new Mahayuti government in Maharashtra will take place on the evening of December 5 at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. It has not been announced yet who will be the new Chief Minister, but BJP sources said that Devendra Fadnavis' name is at the forefront. Fadnavis has been the Chief Minister twice and he was the Deputy Chief Minister in the outgoing government led by caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
