Uddhav Thackeray Plan for Election: Shiv Sena (Shiv Sena) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said he never aspired to become the chief minister of Maharashtra. His statement comes against the backdrop of the reluctance of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies to contest the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections with a chief ministerial face. Addressing protesters in Ahmednagar, Thackeray said he did not have the desire to become the chief minister even in (November) 2019.
Uddhav said this by giving the example of Balasaheb
Uddhav Thackeray said, 'Whether I am in power or not, I feel empowered by the support of the people. Balasaheb (Thackeray) was never in power, but all the powers were vested in him because of the support of the people.' He was addressing state government employees protesting for the restoration of the old pension scheme.
The matter of deciding the face for the post of Chief Minister
Former CM Thackeray had last month asked the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) and the Congress to decide the chief ministerial face for the Maha Vikas Aghadi, but did not receive a positive response. MVA chief architect and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar had said there was no need for the alliance to declare a chief ministerial face.
Sharad Pawar had placed a condition for the CM's chair
Sharad Pawar had said that the chief ministerial candidate will be decided based on which party in the alliance wins the most seats. Thackeray further said that the people of Maharashtra are his strength. He said, 'No one can retire me as long as you support me.'
