The police stopped the candidates who were going to sit on dharna at the gate of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. The candidates sat on a dharna at the intersection near the commission. A heavy police force is deployed on the spot for this. The candidates are demanding that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission to conduct the preliminary examinations of RO-ARO (Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer) and PCS on the same date. The candidates have also been supported by Samajwadi Party (SP) President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. While supporting the candidates on Sunday, he said that the Samajwadi Party is standing shoulder to shoulder with them for their (candidates') "legitimate demand".
Let us tell you that in protest against the decision of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSP) to conduct the PCS Pre and RO-ARO examinations on different dates, the candidates had warned to start a movement in front of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Prayagraj from November 11.
UPPSC had announced
For information, let us tell you that UPPSC had announced on November 5 that the RO and ARO preliminary examinations will be held in three shifts on December 22 and 23. PCS preliminary examination will be held in two shifts on December 7 and 8.
'Conducting exams in two days is against the rules'
Giving reasons behind the call for protest, UPPSP candidate Ramakant Yadav said that conducting the exam in two days by the commission is against the rules, and in the notification, the commission had not mentioned that the exam would be conducted in two days. The candidates demand that the exam should be conducted in a single day like before. Another candidate had said that if the commission does not change its decision to conduct the exam in two days, then the candidates will be forced to protest from November 11, i.e. Monday.
