41 lakh government school students in Gujarat will be served breakfast daily under a government scheme. Chana chaat, mixed beans, and sweet sukhdi will be served for breakfast which is full of many nutrients. This announcement was made by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. He said that Mukhyamantri Poshit Alpahaar Yojana (Chief Minister Nutritious Breakfast Scheme) is being started under the Suposhit Gujarat Mission. A total of 41 lakh students from pre-primary to class 8 will benefit from this scheme.

32,277 schools will get the  benefit

Let us inform you that this initiative has been started in line with the 'Padhai Bhi, Poshan Bhi' program started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under this, students of 32,277 government and aided primary schools will be given lunch and breakfast daily. Under the scheme, all 41 lakh students from Balvatika to Class-8 of government and aided primary schools of the state will be given lunch, sushi, chana chaat, and mixed pulses at prayer time before the start of school work. The statement further said, "Calorie-protein nutritious breakfast of Shri Ann (millet) will be provided."

CM himself gave the information.

In a social media post, the CM said, “I am happy to inform you that the state government has decided to launch the “Mukhyamantri Poshit Snack Food Scheme” under the Suposhit Gujarat Mission to realize the goal of 'Padhai Bhi, Poshan Bhi' given by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi. In addition to the lunch provided under the PM Poshan Yojana to the students of state government and aided primary schools Balvatika to class 8, nutritious breakfast will also be provided under this scheme. Around 41 lakh students of 32,277 schools will benefit from this new scheme.”

  • Under this scheme, food items made from Sukhdi, Chana Chaat, Mix Beans, and Shri Ann (Millet) will be provided as breakfast during the week. For this, the state government will spend Rs 617 crore annually. Along with this, the government has also decided to increase the salary of honorary salary holders of the lunch scheme by 50 percent. 
  • The honorary salary holder operators of PM Poshan Yojana will now be given a monthly honorarium of Rs 4500, cook cum helpers of schools with 26 or more students will be given Rs 3750 per mont,h , and additional staff-helpers for small schools will be given an honorarium of Rs 1500 per month.
  • Under the scheme, around 41 lakh students in 32,277 schools across the state will be served nutritious breakfast before the start of school work. 
  • Gujarat is the leading state in the country to decide to provide nutritious breakfast. This scheme will prove to be very important for the nutrition of students.
