Spam Calls: There is good news for those who are troubled by spam calls that the government is taking several strict steps to curb such unwanted calls. Recently, to curb spam calls and messages, TRAI has blocked more than 50 companies and disconnected the connections of more than 2.75 lakh mobile numbers and other telecom resource users.

Last month, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had given strict instructions to all telecom service providers to immediately stop promotional voice calls from unregistered senders or telemarketers. After this, the telecom companies have taken this step.

TRAI said, 'Access providers have taken strict action against misuse of telecom resources for spamming and have blacklisted more than 50 entities and disconnected services of more than 2.75 lakh SIP DIDs/mobile numbers/telecom resources.'

The telecom regulator said that these steps are expected to have a significant impact in reducing spam calls and providing relief to consumers. TRAI urged all stakeholders to follow the instructions and contribute to a cleaner and more efficient telecom ecosystem.

He said, 'If any unregistered telemarketer is found misusing these resources, he will have to face severe consequences. This includes disconnecting and blacklisting all telecom resources for up to two years.'
