Samajwadi Party News: After the success of the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party is now trying to expand on the national level. For this, it has decided to take part in the assembly elections in other states besides Uttar Pradesh. By fielding candidates in the elections to be held in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, it has started finding its ground in both the states.
Political experts say that the Samajwadi Party has made its mark on the national stage by winning 37 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. According to the strength of numbers in the Lok Sabha, it is the third-largest party in the country. Akhilesh Yadav is now working on a strategy to get SP the status of a national party. For this reason, wherever elections are held shortly, it will definitely try to field its candidates. At present, preparations are on to contest elections in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana.
Akhilesh handed over the responsibility of Jammu and Kashmir to him
The SP chief has just appointed Jiyalal Verma as the state president of Jammu and Kashmir on 24 August. However, Verma is an old BSP member. He has contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 and is continuously active in Jammu and Kashmir. Jiyalal Verma said that so far 10 applications have been received for the assembly elections. We can participate in only two phases of elections. We are busy preparing for the elections to be held in the last two phases. We will talk to the national president and brainstorm after which the candidates will be declared. He said that the party has an agreement with the India Alliance at the national level. But discussions are still going on at the state level. He said that our committee is to be declared. There are old SP workers here for a long time. We will definitely contest the elections. But the seats have not been decided yet.
Eye on Muslim majority seats
Political experts say that even though SP has not talked to Congress on this issue, it is eyeing the Muslim majority seats of Jammu and Kashmir. Congress is contesting the elections in Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with the National Conference. In such a situation, the possibility of SP getting any seat in the alliance in the Union Territory is less. But despite this, SP will definitely contest the elections.
There may be an alliance with Congress in Haryana
On the other hand, Samajwadi Party is preparing to contest on five seats in Haryana. But it wants an alliance with Congress there. Talks are also going on at the national level. Because the seats there will decide the future of Congress in the UP by-elections. Haryana state president of SP Surendra Bhati says that SP has demanded five seats in the alliance. He said, our talks are going on right now. If there is no alliance, we will contest elections on at least 25-30 seats. The SP leader said that although Bhupendra Hooda has refused for the alliance, still talks are going on with the central leadership. It will be finalized in a day or two. We have given a list of 10-11 seats to the national president. Bhati said that the party's organization is very strong in Haryana. There is also a committee in every district. The workers are also active. There is no problem of any kind in contesting elections.
