Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed concern over the decline in electric vehicle (EV) sales in India during the April-June quarter. He urged the industry to push for greater adoption of EVs
Piyush Goyal said he was pained by the fall in EV sales in the last quarter, and asked companies to encourage their employees to use EVs.
As per Vahan data, two-wheeler EV registrations in India dipped more than 7% to 3.46 Lakh units in Q1 FY25 from 3.72 Lakh in the year-ago period.
Vinkesh Gulati, former FADA president, attributed the decline in sales to "high EV prices, uncertainty around the quality of batteries and lower subsidies for EVs"
