This law banning social media will be introduced in the Parliament this year. It will take 12 months i.e. 1 year for the law to come into force. This rule is not going to affect parents and youth.

Australia's Communication Minister Michelle Rowland said that Meta's platforms - Instagram and Facebook will be included in it. Apart from this, TikTok and X will also be included in it. Not only this, provision will be made to include Alphabet's Google and YouTube in it. At present, no social media platform has issued any statement on this decision of the Australian government.

Last year, France banned social media for children under the age of 15. However, there is freedom to use social media platforms after parental consent. Apart from this, social media has been banned for children under the age of 13 in the US for a long time. Most platforms including Meta have kept the age limit for using social media at 13 years.
