Whenever the matter of recruitment for a teacher's post comes up, it seems that there is no recruitment in university colleges, but now the Education Minister has spoken openly. He said that more than 5 thousand teacher posts are vacant in only central universities across the country. Union Minister of State for Education Sukant Majumdar gave this information in response to a question in Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
More than 7,650 posts were filled.
Majumdar said, "There were 5,182 teaching vacancies in Central Universities asofn October 31. However, more than 7,650 posts have been filled in Central Universities through special recruitment drives. The creation and filling of vacancies is a continuous process. These vacancies arise due to retirements, resignations, and additional requirements due to increased student numbers. The responsibility of filling the posts remains with the Central Universities."
UGC and the Ministry monitor
Majumdar further said that the ministry and the University Grants Commission (UGC) regularly monitor the institutions and the central universities have also been directed to fill the vacancies regularly. He further said, "UGC has launched an integrated recruitment portal called CU-Selection in May 2023 to provide a common platform for listing of vacancies/advertisements/jobs in all central universities."
Recruitment has been done for 25,777 posts.
Let us inform you that till 29 October 2024, 25,777 posts including 15,139 teaching posts were recruited by the Central University in mission mode. These include the ecruitment of 3,089 OBC, 1,869 SC, and 739 ST teachers.
