Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ally AJSU Party contested the assembly elections on 10 seats in Jharkhand, but could win only one seat and that too by a narrow margin of just 231 votes. The MLA elected from this one seat is also now talking about resigning.

The newly elected MLA from Mandu said, 'I have sent a letter to Sudesh Mahato to resign from the post of MLA. I have requested him to accept my resignation so that he can contest the by-election from here (Mandu) and get elected to the Assembly.'
9 candidates including Sudesh Mahato lost the election
