This bill related to social media has been passed in both houses of Australia, after which it got the status of law. Social media companies have been given 1 year to fully implement this rule. If any social media company disobeys this rule, then it will be fined up to 50 million Australian dollars i.e. about Rs 274.6 crore.

The new law is very strict.

Australia has set an example for the world so that the children there are not mentally affected. Under this rule, if a child below the age of 16 creates his account on a social media platform, then the platform will be held responsible for it.

What did the Australian PM say?

Apart from this, parents of children have also been appealed to make this rule effective. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has strongly supported this new law and said that social media has become the biggest platform for mental stress for children. Not only this, it is also the easiest medium for cyber thugs.

The Australian PM has also blamed social media for crimes against women. Due to the ban on social media for children, they will be able to focus on traditional sports and physical fitness. The government wants children to focus on indoor and outdoor sports.

The social media platform has considered this law made for social media to be very strict. Also, it has been said that it is a vague and hastily brought law. However, it will take another 12 months for this law to be fully implemented.
