Ambala: Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday made a big statement saying that if his party comes to power in the Haryana assembly elections, it will open the Shambhu border for farmers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are leading the Delhi Chalo march by farmers to pressure the government over their demands, including a legal guarantee of MSP for crops. They have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, when security forces stopped their march.
'Farmers will be given a legal guarantee of MSP'
At an election rally on Monday, Hooda accused the BJP of having "no faith" in democracy. "This dictatorial government first imposed 3 anti-farmer laws and then when farmers protested against these laws, they were lathi-charged and shot at. Roads were dug up, and the Haryana government stopped farmers at the Shambhu border. Traders are also suffering huge losses due to this," he said. Former Haryana Chief Minister Hooda said that when the Congress government is formed in Haryana, the Shambhu border will be opened and farmers will be given a legal guarantee of MSP.
A fierce contest is expected between the BJP and the Congress.
Hooda said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is fighting for the farmers' demand to implement the Swaminathan Commission report. Congress' Haryana unit president Chaudhary Udaybhan and Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary also addressed the public meeting and appealed to the people to vote for the party. Let us tell you that the assembly elections in Haryana are to be held on October 5, while the results will be declared on October 8. Congress is hoping to come to power this time, BJP is trying to form the government for the third consecutive time in the state. Experts believe that there will be a tough competition between BJP and Congress in the elections.
