Ghaziabad:  Saurabh Meena, a 2016-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, who is currently posted in Delhi, had alerted cops on Saturday that Shilpa Gautam (37), whom he met via a mobile app a few months ago and since been dating, had died by suicide at his flat.
Meena had told cops that Gautam had locked the door of a room and hung herself from a ceiling fan. He claimed the room's door was opened by a security guard, who he had called after Gautam had been unresponsive for a long time.

Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Mishra told TOI that Gautam was a human resource officer at BHEL and had divorced her husband five years ago. In a complaint, her father OP Gautam, claimed that she had met Meena three years ago on a dating app.
 Around three months ago, Meena promised to marry the woman, but he kept dilly-dallying on the topic for the last three months.

The complainant claimed the two had several arguments over marriage in the past few weeks.

He claimed that Meena had killed Gautam and later hanged her to make it look like a suicide.

An FIR has been registered against Meena under IPC section of 302 (murder) and he was arrested Sunday, Mishra said.
 "Police have seized the mobile phones of the Meena and Gautam for the investigation. During interrogation, Meena told police that he had an argument with the woman before the incident over the marriage. The police investigation also revealed that Meena was in a relationship with a few other women as well," a police officer said.
