According to the statement issued by LG, the Delhi government will recruit 15,000 more home guards, which will increase their total number to 25,000.
Nomination letters given to selected candidates
Raj Niwas said that LG VK Saxena distributed letters to 1669 out of 10,000 home guards on Tuesday. The recruitment process for this home guard started in the month of January. After this, VK Saxena, while talking to the newly appointed home guards in a program, said that soon 15,000 more home guards will be recruited in Delhi, which will increase their total number to more than 25,000.
226 CDV candidates and 181 women included
The statement said that these new home guards include 226 former Civil Defence Volunteers (CDVs). They were earlier posted as marshals in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, however, they were removed from this post in November last year. The statement said that 181 women were also included in the newly recruited people. Let us inform you that in January this year, the Lieutenant Governor had approved the nomination of 10285 home guards, LG had said in his instructions that CDVs will be given preference in the selection process of this recruitment.
However, some candidates had approached the court regarding this, and as a result, the appointment to 7939 Home Guard posts was stuck, since then the matter has been going on in the court. However, the LG had ordered the appointment of 2346 Home Guards who had passed the physical test and written examination.
