Gondia: The factions of Congress MP Dr. Namdevrao Kirsan and Congress MLA Sahasram Korote, who were claiming a ticket for their son in the Amgaon assembly constituency of the Gondia district of Maharashtra, clashed with each other. The dispute escalated so much amid objectionable sloganeering that a scuffle and fight broke out between the supporters of both the factions. During this, chairs were also waved in the air and thrown at each other.

It is worth noting that assembly elections are going to be held in Maharashtra in November. In such a situation, Congress observers are visiting different assembly constituencies of the Gondia district and taking applications from interested candidates there. Along with this, the issue of booth committees is also being reviewed and discussed at the party organization level, but this program is now becoming a matter of controversy for the Congress.

There was a ruckus in Sakoli 3 days ago too.

Three days ago, both the groups came face to face in front of Congress observer former minister Satish Chaturvedi at Sakoli Rest House in Bhandara district. Now, the situation reached to abuse and scuffle at Amgaon Rest House in the Gondia district. This dispute took place on Monday, 14 October, at around 7 pm.

State Congress Committee Vice Chairman Naik was conducting a review meeting on the booth committee of the Amgaon assembly constituency. During this, MLA Sahasram Korote was sitting on the chair next to him and the Congress MP of the area Dr. Namdevrao Kirsan was expressing his views. Then MLA Korote's supporters interrupted from behind and disrupted the meeting and used indecent language against the MP. Due to this, the dispute deepened and supporters of both the factions clashed with each other in front of the observer.

Show of power for ticket, video of scuffle goes viral

The video of this scuffle and fight has gone viral, in which a show of power, scuffle, abuse, and sloganeering for tickets between two groups can be seen. After this fight which lasted for about 10 minutes and sloganeering which continued for half an hour, the police intervened and calmed the situation.

After this incident, both the groups accused each other of displaying power and cheap politics for personal gain and said that they would meet the top leaders of the state and inform them about the incident.

Amgaon assembly constituency includes three tehsils of Amgaon, Salekasa, and Deori. A total of 12 interested candidates have applied for a Congress ticket. Those seeking Congress tickets include current MLA Sahasram Korote and MP's son Adv Dushyant Kirsan. The party is facing internal conflict here and the current MLA is facing opposition to the ticket from here.
