Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made a big announcement yesterday that NCERT will increase the publication of its books. For this, it has also signed an agreement with Amazon company. With this, NCERT will increase the publication of its books three times this year and will print 15 crore books. Pradhan said this in a program organized for signing the agreement between NCERT and Amazon.
The number of books is 220 crores.
Pradhan said, "NCERT has been shaping India's education by publishing books since 1963. Its total number of books and magazines is around 220 crores. NCERT is a leading think tank for the country. These books will be made available at around 20,000 pin codes across the country. These books will be available at MRP."
Publications will increase threefold.
He said, "NCERT will increase the publication of books three-fold and will publish 15 crore books this year." Emphasizing the importance of making learning enjoyable for the 300 million students of Amrit Kal, Pradhan also emphasized on creating e-books that are interactive and AI-powered, including innovations like talking books.
Pirated NCERT books will be curbed.
According to officials, NCERT books for all classes will be made available on the Amazon NCERT storefront, which was also launched on Monday. The books will not be sold at a price higher than the MRP. Only original NCERT books will be sold on this platform, which will help curb the sale of pirated NCERT books.
There will be ease in remote areas.
"Amazon will help NCERT monitor and catch unauthorized sellers who distribute fake or overpriced books. Through Amazon's large network, students and schools, even in the most remote areas, will be able to purchase books at fixed prices," it added.
Bulk ordering will also be easy.
A senior education ministry official said, "This will address challenges such as supply shortages, delayed availability, and regional shortages of textbooks, thereby ensuring equitable access to education." Apart from serving individual customers, Amazon will also facilitate bulk ordering for government agencies and schools in collaboration with NCERT, making it easier for institutions to buy books in large quantities.
To support this, NCERT has appointed several delivery vendors who will work with sellers on Amazon to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
The company official said this.
Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President, Categories, Amazon India, said, “Amazon is trusted by millions of Indians across the country to make everyday essential products easily accessible, and we believe quality education should be no exception. This effort will make it easier for students, parents, and teachers to access the resources they need to support their learning journey without any compromise.”
