Haryana Election Results 2024: Just six months ago, during the Lok Sabha elections, the mandate for the BJP from Haryana was not good. The saffron party lost 5 out of 10 Lok Sabha seats. Haryana was one of the states in the Hindi belt where BJP's mission to cross 400 suffered a setback. Congress, which did not win a single seat in Haryana in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, was elated after winning 5 seats. The contest was 50-50. This victory gave wings to its hopes. It was confident that it would return to power in the state in the upcoming assembly elections. But the election results on October 8 surprised everyone. The exit polls' predictions fell flat and the BJP made a record by returning to power in Haryana for the third consecutive time. Everyone was assuming that the BJP would lose this time in the Haryana elections.

Saini replaced Khattar before the Lok Sabha elections.

To understand this concept, we have to remember the time before the Lok Sabha elections. In Haryana, the command of the BJP was in the hands of Manohar Lal Khattar but suddenly BJP had to bring Nayab Singh Saini in place of Khattar. The reason behind this change is said to be the anger of the people against Khattar and the growing anti-incumbency wave. During this time, JJP's separation from the government was also seen as a setback for BJP. It was believed that the BJP's hold in Haryana was weakening. In the Lok Sabha elections, farmers' movement, wrestlers, Agniveer, constitution, and reservation were such issues on which Congress cornered the BJP a lot.

Congress won 5 out of 10 seats in Haryana.

Congress knew that the Modi government was on the back foot on Kisan Andolan, Pahalwan, and Agniveer Yojana. Since Kisan Andolan, Pahalwan, and Agniveer are three issues that are deeply connected to the society and people of Haryana. The more it will corner BJP and Narendra Modi on these issues, the more political benefit it will get in Haryana. Rahul Gandhi kept attacking Narendra Modi and BJP on these issues in his rallies and its political benefit was seen in the Haryana Lok Sabha election results. Congress won 5 out of 10 seats. After this victory, Congress set the narrative that the people of Haryana have rejected the BJP.

BJP got the tonic of victory

After this victory, Congress started feeling that this time it would return to power. Congress started believing that it just has to field candidates, the public will do the rest. On the day of voting, the public did its job but it backfired for it. It remained far away from the magical number that is needed to form the government. Out of 90 seats in the assembly, it was able to win only 37 seats. Whereas BJP managed to win 48 seats, which is two seats more than the majority. This victory is unexpected for the BJP. It too might not have anticipated this majority victory. This victory in Haryana is very big for it. It is like a tonic and booster dose which it was looking for after the Lok Sabha elections. This victory has filled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the entire BJP with a new energy, enthusiasm, and confidence. When PM Modi reached the BJP headquarters in Delhi after the results were announced, the glow on his face and his gait were enough to tell that his form was back. After waving the flag in Haryana, BJP has regained its momentum of victory.

Now a big challenge in front of Rahul Gandhi

Now the opposition including the Congress is facing many challenges. Next are the elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and then Delhi. It is obvious that after this victory, the BJP will go to the elections with a new zeal and new strategy. In Maharashtra and Jharkhand, only the election bugle is yet to be sounded. The question is whether the opposition will try the same issues that were defeated in Haryana in Maharashtra and Jharkhand as well. What will Rahul Gandhi, who was claiming that he has shaken and shaken Modi's confidence in the Lok Sabha elections, say now? The Congress, which was proud and made big statements after winning just 99 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, now has the challenge of keeping its alliance partners united. Haryana has already slipped out of the hands of the Congress, it has also had to face defeat in Jammu and Kashmir. Here the National Conference has saved it from being embarrassed. In Jammu, the Congress flopped badly, it got just one seat, while in Kashmir, it was able to win five seats thanks to the NC.

Indian parties showed their attitude

The road ahead for Congress, which uses regional parties as crutches, is not going to be easy. Its allies have already started showing their attitude to it. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut even praised BJP for its victory in Haryana. He said that BJP won a lost game and Congress lost a won game. Raut's praise of the BJP gives a different signal. So for the UP by-elections, Akhilesh Yadav also threatened Congress. He fielded his candidates on six out of 10 seats. Congress wanted five seats from SP. The special thing is that SP has also fielded candidates on those two seats, Phuthe lpur and Majhawan, on which Congress was staking its claim. Owaisi sahab also did not miss the opportunity to taunt Congress on this poor performance. The AIMIM chief said that Congress lost a golden opportunity to defeat BJP due to its internal tussle.

Modi factor effective in elections

The biggest message ge of Congress's defeat and BJP's victory in Haryana is that the Modi factor has not weakened in the elections, it is still a big factor. Secondly, wherever there is a direct contest between BJP and Congress, the saffron party will prevail. A big lesson for Congress from this election is that if it does not take regional parties along and does not distance itself from lack of confidence, mutual conflict and factionalism, its condition will become like Haryana.
