Lucknow. In Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested at midnight on charges of attempting to rape a minor girl. After this there is a heated debate between the ruling and opposition parties in UP. On one hand, the BJP is attacking the Samajwadi Party on the Kannauj incident after Ayodhya, while on the other hand, SP is calling this incident a conspiracy of the BJP.
Conspiracy of the capitalists
On the issue of rape of a minor, Samajwadi Party is distancing itself from the incident and calling it a conspiracy hatched by the capitalists. SP alleges that the BJP is hatching this conspiracy so that it gains benefit in the by-elections to be held in the state.

The party sidelined
Kannauj SP district president Kaleem Khan said that "Nawab Singh Yadav was involved in anti-party activities for about five years, he is not even a primary member of the party, yet he is being called a member of the Samajwadi Party as part of a conspiracy to tarnish the party's image." The district president said that Nawab Singh Yadav is not a member of the SP in any way and neither should he be associated with the party's name.
