In the last few years, many types of online fraud, scams, and other cyber crimes have come to the fore in the internet world. YouTube is the largest video streaming platform in the world. Scammers are adopting new methods to cheat people. Deepfake videos have become the new weapon of scammers on YouTube and social media. In such a situation, YouTube is constantly bringing new features to keep its platform safe from deepfake videos. In this episode, the company is going to roll out a new feature for users.
YouTube has been working hard for the past one year to curb deepfake videos. The company updated the video streaming giant's privacy process in the month of June this year. With its help, users can easily report content created by AI. Now the company is going to introduce a new tool through which users will be able to identify deepfake voices and faces.
YouTube users will get a face-detection tool
A YouTube official said in his blog post that the company is currently working rapidly on a face detection tool equipped with artificial technology. The new tool will help creators and artists to identify content in which someone else's face or voice has been used with the help of AI.
According to the company, in the future, the company will also bring 'Synthetic-Singing Identification' technology. With the help of this tool, users will be able to recognize AI-generated singing voices. If the information revealed from the leaks is to be believed, the pilot program of the face detection tool can start at the beginning of the new year. After the testing is completed, it can be rolled out to the users by mid-2025. At present, no official information has been given regarding its launch.
