Yogi government should give concession for use of loudspeakers during Ramzan: Maulana Shahabuddin
I have learned of a current topic on which discussion is taking place and that is ‘the removal of loudspeakers from religious establishments across the country'. In this regard, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, National President of All India Muslim Jamaat has sought a concession in respect of use of loudspeakers in India for the month of Ramzan. He stated, “The month of Ramzan Sharif has started and there are announcements that need be made for Iftar and Sehri.” He further explained that, “If loudspeakers are not played at these times, people will face a lot of problems.”
This power requires the state government to exercise discretion by making provisions for seniors and children raging from 12 to 18 years of age in respect of sehri and iftar during Ramzan Sharif. He also stated that there is a need to apply balanced judgement concerning the removal of loudspeakers. The High Court’s order is for everyone, this order is not only for Muslims. Thus, to be more effective in eliminating public suspicion and distrust against the government, there is need to ensure that the rules are applied to all.
