Modi cabinet approves ropeway scheme to travel to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib

 |

The Modi government has approved the construction of two important ropeway projects to link the Uttarakhand pilgrimage sites of Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib, which are estimated to cost over Rs 6800 million altogether. Nowadays, the Union Cabinet headed by PM Modi has set aside the funds required for the construction of the cabin.

The Parvatmala Projects are aimed not only at improving tourist traffic to the mountainous regions, but also at easing pilgrimage travel. In addition, these two projects will also aim at employing the economic activity in the hilly hinterlands of the country through a public private partnership.

Works are to be done under ‘Parvatmala Project’ KedarNath Ropeway The estimated cost is Rs 4,081 crore and the cost of the project under Kedarnath Ropeway will be Rs 4,081 crore under ‘Parvatmala Project’. The Lord  Kedarnath Temple in Kedarnath is visited by many devotees and tourists. Currently the trek from Sonprayag to Kedarnath takes roughly 8.5 to 9.5 hours  After this, it will be reduced to just 36 minutes once the cable car is ready. The figure is astonishing for so many people, the cable cars will be very supportive. 36 pilgrims will be able to undertake the journey in one cable car and with the help of binders from Austria, carpenters from France, and many experts in Austria and France this project will be made into a reality.

Hemkund Sahib Ropeway

Connecting Hemkund Sahib and Govindghat will be a new 12.4 km long ropeway, which will take about 2730 crore rupees to construct. Located in Uttarakhand at 15,000 feet above sea level, Hemkund Sahib is considered a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Sikhs after the famous warrior Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Lord Laxman are said to have meditated there. The construction of the new ropeway will lift the burden of strenuous climbing from the shoulders of pilgrims, making their journey easier.

The project will make use of modern technology

The newly proposed ropeway will make use of new technologies, specifically 'Tri-Cable Detachable Gondola' (3S). Making use of this technology will allow the ropeway to carry around 1,800 passengers every hour, or 18,000 people every day, which is extraordinary. This will allow for less strenuous traveling by foot and make the trip more eco-friendly.

For devotees, it will be easier

With this historic initiative of the Modi government, the zuarineassage to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib will become very easy and smooth. Instead of walking for hours to reach the holy shrine, devotees will be able to avail the ropeway and reach the shrine within minutes. Not only will this project take tourism to new heights, but it will also enhance the employment opportunities for the local people. This will boost the economic growth of Uttarakhand, in return.
