America will impose 'retaliatory tariff' on India from April 2
While addressing a joint session of Congress, former US President Donald Trump disclosed his tough tariff policy during his second term and defended his stance by claiming that the United States has suffered from high tariffs for a long time, even from India. Trump stated that his government would implement mutually agreed tariffs beggining April 2 for many other countries.
Trump said that European Union, China, Brazil, India, Mexico and Canada are few of the countries that impose high tariffs on United States of America. “Do you know these countries? They impose huge tariffs with us giving nothing in return.”
He specifically called it “very unfair.” In the case of India, Trump added, “When we talk about India, one fact that gets ignored is the more than hundred percent tariffs on US vehicles.”
The former US President noted that during his period of governance, there would be taxes for countries that do not produce goods in America. “. And at these, one can have a really advanced fee. Terms and conditions vary greatly, we have all received fees from other countries for decades, it’s time we reciprocate.”
Counter-charges will be applicable from April 2
Trump mentioned that America will start putting reciprocal tariffs on a number of countries from April 2. When joking about this he mentioned he wanted to implement it from April 1 but so it is not associated with 'Aprils fools Day' he is starting it from April 2.
He said, “Retaliatory tariffs will be operable from April two and on any country that chooses to impose tariffs on us, we will grant them the same baseless tariff. It will be completely reciprocal. In fact, The day we choose to impose retaliatory tariffs, provides us with an opportunity to teach countries using non - monetary measures to block entry to their markets a lesson, we will do the same in return.”
He went on to explain how this will benefit America by claiming that, “We will earn truillions and create jobs like no one has before. I already did this with China and other nations for the Biden Administration It is counterproductive to try anything with us.”
