Indian students aspiring to study abroad not only carry intelligence but also help in shaping the society and economy of the host country. The practice of going for education outside the country has been in existence for several decades. However, in recent times, changes in the policies by some governments have made the Indian students lose their passion towards some popular countries. This further results in many students shifting to local universities rather than foreign, hence creating a gross fall in students that study abroad. 

Emigration expert Harvinder Singh states that India’s Canadian population has been reduced by 40% while Australia and the United Kingdom’s population has been reduced by 16% each. Its worth noting that the Indo-Canadian diplomatic Devaluation issue that started after the Najjar assassination has deteriorated.

Due to the increasing number of policy shifts in Canada, the number of Indian students willing to move there has decreased. Even after the resignation of the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the students are still uninterested in studying there.

Parental Visas Restricted

In the past, student parents were able to get a PR through a certain category or extend their stay through a super visa, but that is no longer the case as the options have been shortened in terms of duration.

With regards to this matter, Harvinder Singh pointed out that Canada is going through a major housing deficit, which is one of the reasons behind Trudeau’s resignation. Interestingly, there has been no acceleration in the country’s growth in tandem with the mounting number of international students, especially the Indians. Canada’s last budget largely aimed at increasing the housing supply as it is burning issue.

Rift Between Canada and India Affects Students

Decreasing number of students has reached Canada for their university studies because of the political turmoil between India and Canada and many of them have been taking admission in local colleges in India.
