Indian government changes passport rules
A passport serves as proof of identity and a person’s nationality. It is the most essential document when one wishes to travel overseas. It can be utilized for tourism, education, business, or other purposes. The Government of India has made some alterations to the rules regarding passports.
Modification in Passport Rules
The federal government has made changes in the passport rules. For those who are applying for a passport who were born on or after October 1, 2023, certificates from the suitable authority will now be the only form of proof for a person’s date of birth. This week an official note has coined the phrase to amend the Passport Rules 1980.
New Rules or Guidelines
The new passport rules becomes effective as soon as the alterations get published in the formal gazzette. According to sections of the new rules, birth certificates obtained from the Registrar of Births and Deaths, Municipal Corporation, or any other authority permitted under the Birth and Deaths Registration Act of 1969, serves as proof of date of birth for people born on or after October 1, 2023. Other applicants can use other documents like a driver’s license or school leaving certificate as proof of date of birth.
